Why Plandeck exists

Estedic is a data management consultancy. We help organizations get their data in order: how it's structured, who can access it, and how you can rely on it. That's also the vision behind Plandeck. Who gets to see what, where it lives, and how long we keep it: for us, those were never questions for afterwards.

In our own projects we often work agile, sometimes following SAFe. But not everything fits in a sprint. There are hard delivery dates, dependencies on parties that have never heard of an increment, and projects better suited to a waterfall approach. And there are always people who want to follow the schedule without working in it themselves. For that part of our work we went looking for a tool, and we kept running into the same thing.

One side of the market is heavy and closed: powerful planners you first have to learn to operate, and that only the planner can get into. The other side is light and friendly, but doesn't calculate. Drag a task and nothing happens to the rest.

And what they share is the real problem: a schedule that's correct on the day you deliver it, and no longer three weeks later. At that point updating it costs more time than the planning itself, so it stops happening.

Plandeck solves that with a planner that calculates, works intuitively, and keeps itself up to date: every week a short status request goes out to the people doing the work, including those without an account; anyone who does follow along in the app simply reports their progress there. Ordinary progress is processed by the schedule itself; anything that really affects your schedule comes to you for review first. No more static document, but a living schedule that moves with your work.

And because it rarely stays at one project, you can look across everything when you want to: which project is running late, who is working where, and where utilization is getting tight.

We use it ourselves, every week, alongside our own scrum board. What didn't work, we took out. What we missed is in there now.

And because we come from data management, Plandeck is built the way we believe it should be: everything in Europe, no ad trackers and no cookie banner; our own visitor statistics are cookieless and run on infrastructure we manage ourselves, and we don't store more data than necessary.
